Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Working Capital Controller to join our Finance team, based in A&O Shearman’s Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City Office.

What you will do
As a Working Capital Controller, you will be responsible for optimising revenue realisation, cash collection, and matter profitability while serving as the key financial business partner to partners, ensuring effective working capital management and sustainable financial performance.
  • Support and oversee the end-to-end billing process.
  • Meet regularly with partners to review matters, obtain billing forecasts, and ensure timely billing.
  • Manage billing-related activities including time transfers, write-offs.
  • Monitor cash forecast for the respective partners, cash receipts and ensure timely recording.
  • Oversee client money balances and ensure prompt application or refund of funds.
  • Review billing write-offs and escalate material amounts.
  • Answer internal and external auditors’ queries on timely basis
  • Maintain compliance with internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Issue VAT invoices and prepare monthly/quarterly VAT reports in compliance with local tax regulations.
  • Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders regarding tax invoices and supporting documents required for payment processing.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with partners, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Perform ad hoc duties and projects as required.
What you will have
To be successful in this role, you must have previous general accountant or working capital controller experience.
In addition, you will have:
  • Familiarity with ERP system, experience with 3E is a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • A proactive, flexible and solutions-focused approach.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A positive, "can-do" attitude and a commitment to delivering outstanding service.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when business needs require.
