Job description

Overview

Shape the knowledge that powers one of the world's leading law firms.

Our Bratislava office is looking for a Professional Support Lawyer (PSL / Knowledge Lawyer) to lead and co-ordinate the knowledge management and training support we offer to our lawyers and clients across the Slovak practice.

This is a rare opportunity for a knowledge-focused legal professional to sit at the centre of the practice — championing best-in-class know-how, sharpening the firm's collective expertise, and helping our lawyers deliver outstanding work to clients. You will work side by side with local partners and fee earners, while plugging into A&O Shearman's global PSL network and the firm's know-how, training, library and marketing functions. If you are energised by learning, sharing and building, and you want your work to make a visible difference across an international practice, we would love to hear from you.

The role

Based in Bratislava, your primary role would be to monitor, organise, develop and co-ordinate legal know-how and provide legal training support to the lawyers and clients of our Slovak practice, working closely with the local lawyers and the firm's wider know-how teams.

This is not a fee earning role and the salary is therefore reflective of a fixed hours arrangement (9:00-17:30 or as agreed).

Key Responsibilities

  • Know-how & precedents — Develop and maintain precedents, templates, and standard-form products in collaboration with partners and fee earners; support the integration of AI tools into day-to-day practice; and keep the team informed of new product developments.
  • Current awareness — Monitor legal and commercial developments, delivering timely updates, commentary, and client-facing alerts and bulletins.
  • Knowledge systems — Manage and develop local know-how materials and intranet resources; create new ways of capturing and sharing knowledge across the practice.
  • Legal research & support — Assist fee earners with precedent identification, research inquiries, and cross-office know-how requests.
  • Global collaboration — Engage with PSLs across the firm's international network to identify relevant developments and best practice.
  • Client initiatives — Partner with the marketing team to strengthen client relationships through value-added content and services.
  • Training — Design and co-ordinate the annual in-house training programme; deliver training on internal systems and provide induction sessions for new joiners; ensure training materials are properly stored and accessible.
  • Library & resources — Manage library budgets, online subscriptions, and resource trials.
  • Ad hoc projects & pro bono — Contribute to departmental and firm-wide initiatives and provide legal pro bono support as needed.

How to apply

If this sounds like you and you would like to be part of our team, we would be delighted to receive your application. Please submit a motivation letter and CV in both Slovak and English by clicking Apply for job, via the Careers section on aoshearman.com, or by sending your application directly to recruitment.bratislava@aoshearman.com.
