Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Bid Executive to join our growing Core Pitch Team, based in the A&O Shearman Perth office.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Bid Executive to work collaboratively with members of our global BD team, and play a key role in supporting our partners to win new mandates. The successful candidate will play a hands-on role in strategizing and delivering compelling client-focused proposals and credential statements, that are produced to the highest standard within agreed deadlines. This is a 12-month fixed term contract role.

Marketing team - Perth

The Core Pitch Team (CPT) sits within the Global Business Development, Marketing & Communications function. Our business development, marketing and communication teams contribute to the setting and achievement of the firm's business objectives, which includes supporting our partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming our clients' trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally, and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced law firm among the global elite law firms. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central teams and professionals supporting offices, practice groups, sectors and clients.

What you will do

The role will require someone who is highly organised, efficient and keen to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

The job will include, but not be limited to:
  • Producing proposals, pitch presentations and credential statements, in line with A&O Shearman quality standards including:
    • Executing strategy for the drafting and completion of high value, strategic bids and tenders.
    • Working collaboratively to produce high quality content and design outcomes.
    • Assisting with the development of key messages and compelling, client-specific value propositions.
    • Editing and refining content and design of bid and tender documents.
  • Becoming a subject matter expert in key practice areas
  • Becoming a subject matter expert in the use of any new pitch technology platforms.
  • In conjunction with the Core Pitch Team, maintaining a library of pitch tools and guides.
  • Supporting the Business Development function with other pitch outputs as required.

What you will have

Essential:
  • A minimum of 2 years bid/proposals experience, preferably in a professional services or related environment (law firm or other professional services provider is preferred).
  • Graduate (degree in Business/related discipline) with an interest in further professional qualifications (e.g. APMP).
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading and communications skills.
  • Proven project management capability, with a track record of prioritizing complex workloads and meeting multiple concurrent deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Highest standard of quality – an eye for design, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to highest quality results.
  • Demonstrable advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, including use of templates, styles, master slides, and complex formatting.
  • Sense of responsibility, accuracy and confidentiality.
  • A hunger to learn and take on all tasks that will aid in learning, including keeping up to date with legal and commercial developments relevant to the product areas and sectors.
  • Strong client focus.
Desirable:
  • An understanding and experience submitting bids and proposal information on tender portals (e.g. PERSUIT, Ariba etc).
