Role summary
The Paralegal/HSR specialist will work closely with the antitrust practice group and the broader firm to provide support to lawyers throughout the regulatory process. This includes the initial information gathering stage, support with preparation of HSR/regulatory filings (including assistance with the review and production of documents), creating and maintaining practice group resources, such as standard forms and templates, assisting with preparation of client presentations and other business development initiatives, and coordinating training programs for the antitrust practice group. The Paralegal/HSR specialist must be exceptionally organized and proactive, willing and able to take ownership of tasks, and must deliver work product of the highest quality.
Key responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with preparation and submission of HSR filings with the Federal Trade Commission and U.S. Department of Justice.
- Assist with document review, organization, and production.
- Compile document collection, production, and privilege logs; maintain various matter trackers; prepare exhibit lists.
- Develop procedures with supervisors for electronic or physical tracking, coding, and ensuring quality control systems for documents.
- Maintain correspondence and research.
- Draft forms, letters, or other legal documents under the supervision of lawyers.
- Prepare and organize regulatory filings.
- Assist in HSR filing reportability analysis.
- Attend practice group and case team meetings.
- Prepare audit response letters.
- As needed, support and attend trial and hearing proceedings; coordinate depositions and prepare witness kits.
- As needed, assist attorneys with preparation of court filings in accordance with federal and state court rules.
- As needed, conduct research using Bloomberg, Lexis, Westlaw, Pacer, etc.; prepare casebooks; cite-check and Bluebook briefs and assemble exhibits.
- Prepare and release daily time entries.
- Assist with special projects, e.g., monitor topics of interest to attorneys, coordinate meetings, etc.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and experience
Essential
- BS/BA degree.
- 3+ years of law firm experience as a paralegal in corporate/m&a and/or antitrust/HSR practice areas.
- Strong proficiency with excel, powerpoint and adobe acrobat
- Flexibility to work outside standard business hours.
- Flexibility to travel as needed.

This role is open to our New York and Washington, D.C. offices. For individuals assigned to or hired for this opportunity in New York, the estimated annualized base salary range for this position is $80,000-$132,000. For individuals assigned to or hired for this opportunity in Washington, D.C., the estimated annualized base salary range for this position is $80,000-$131,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on the overall qualifications of the individual applicant for the position and other job-related factors permitted by law. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package which includes a discretionary bonus, paid leave, life, health, accident, and disability insurance; and a 401(k) plan.
