Role purpose
To sustain its growth, A&O Shearman LLP Belgium is currently looking for an Associate for our Financial Services Regulatory & Debt Capital Markets practice, to be located in Brussels or Antwerp.
Our Belgian Financial Services Regulatory & Debt Capital Markets team consists of six specialist lawyers based in our Antwerp and Brussels offices. Our market-leading advisory practice handles a wide variety of advisory work for banks, fintechs, insurers, fund managers and other financial institutions, as well as complex regulatory aspects of transactional matters (including financial sector M&A). In addition, our top-ranked transactional practice covers a wide range of interesting and innovative transactional matters, including issuances of (retail) bonds by leading Belgian and international companies, securitisations, and asset management transactions.
Our practice further offers a comprehensive cross-border capability, in conjunction with A&O Shearman's other international offices, permitting you to work and grow in a truly international setting.
Who we are looking for
- You obtained a Belgian Master in Law with outstanding academic results
- You have 2-4 years of experience in a reputable firm with a special focus on financial services regulation and/or debt capital markets transactions (or similar significant experience)
- You have an excellent command of English as well as French and/or Dutch (written and spoken)
- You are a team player with excellent legal capabilities, you have an entrepreneurial spirit and good communication skills
- You will join a closely integrated team, working on complex and high-profile Belgian and cross-border matters
- You will be part of a leading global law firm, with early responsibility and direct exposure to top-tier clients and transactions
- We make a long-term commitment to the development of our lawyers, with varied and intellectually stimulating work
- You will work closely with colleagues across departments and jurisdictions, supported by regular team meetings and knowledge sharing
